It is a reconstruction of a part of interior of a family house which was finished sometime at the turn of the millennium and the disposition and aesthetics responded to it. Fortunately, the house is located at a very exceptional place and was basically functioning quite well, although we were certainly able to imagine it in a different, better way.
We were asked to optimize the current interior and the client did not wish any bigger construction interventions. The present owners have been living in the house for several years and in that time they were showing us some issues which they were not satisfied with. We added to them some other things we did not like about the house and we were gradually trying to solve them.
The task was to optimize the part of the house which is accessible to visits, the social zone. It means the entrance hall, which is very important part of a house, the guest room, kitchen with dining room and the main living room. It was important to realize the way people walk in the house, which doors are redundant and where some doors are missing on the contrary. It was then important where the floor is cold, where people want to look while cooking, where from an armchair, where the inhabitants will listen to music, where the family will meet at Christmas etc.
Besides that we worked out illumination and audio/video systems in the house.
Materials
The interior was to be functional, high-quality, hearty and light.
We chose oiled massive oak wood as the main material for the furniture. We used vanilla laminate for wardrobes and corpuses of kitchen and light grey teraco for the floor. Some parts and smaller pieces of the furniture are lacquered with a matt colourful lacquer. Practically everything is designed and made atypically including all handles, doors, lights, oak table and notice board in the dining room, crochet cushion and coffee table in the living room and mirrors with a bulb in the entrance hall.
